Abu Dhabi – Singapore Smart Cities Open Innovation Challenge (Deadline: 29 July)

The Abu Dhabi – Singapore Smart Cities Open Innovation Challenge brings together some of Abu Dhabi’s esteemed organisations to collaborate with innovative startups and SMEs in Singapore.

In this challenge, Enterprise Singapore, Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO) and IPI partnered with three Abu Dhabi organisations – Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), Masdar, and Department of Municipality and Transport (DMT) to look for innovative partners to collaborate on six challenge statements to drive future smart city developments in the Middle East. If you are a Singapore startup or innovative SME with suitable solutions, we want to hear from you!

We invite you to showcase your innovative smart city solutions. Selected companies will have the opportunity to develop and pilot your solutions, and these may be adapted and implemented by organisations in the Middle East. CHALLENGE STATEMENTS

Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC)
From smart energy management to sustainable lighting and more, ADNOC is seeking innovative solutions to enhance the United Arab Emirate (UAE)'s city infrastructure and public services.

Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT)
As part of its continued efforts to drive sustainability, the DMT is seeking innovative solutions from renewable and sustainable energy sources to power public recreational facilities in the UAE.

Masdar
Masdar is seeking innovative and cost-effective solutions that tap into passive and/or active heating management technologies to provide refuge and comfort against the UAE’s high outdoor daytime temperatures.

Seeking New Energy Efficiency Solutions for Buildings
The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) is looking for innovative solutions to increase the energy efficiency of the buildings within Ruwais City. The solutions should reduce building energy consumption and optimise operations and maintenance performance of the District Cooling Plant.

Seeking Real-time Data Collection, Analysis and Notification Solutions for Emergency Response and Maintenance Systems
ADNOC is seeking innovative solutions to tap into Ruwais City’s existing real-time data collection tools and leverage findings to improve public services and quality of life for residents. Such data will also be used to help optimise the workforce demand required for providing related services.

Seeking New Energy Efficiency and Smart City Solutions for Street Lighting
In addition to energy-efficiency solutions, ADNOC is seeking proposals on how to best leverage street lighting as an extension of Ruwais City’s emerging smart city infrastructure, wherein the street lamps themselves are the platform upon which smart devices could be connected and/or mounted.

Seeking Solutions from Sustainable Energy Sources to Power Up Recreational Facilities
The Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) is seeking innovative solutions from renewable and sustainable energy sources to supply electric power to public facilities in Abu Dhabi. The proposed solutions must integrate with the Smart Grid of the Abu Dhabi Distribution Company (ADDC), and aesthetics of the natural environment.

Seeking Smart Street Lighting Solutions for Public Engagement and Data Capturing
As part of its transformation drive, the DMT is seeking innovative solutions to transform existing street lighting infrastructures, such that they can also be used for other smart city applications, including the collection of data (e.g. weather, traffic, parking, pedestrians) through sensors.
