Next-gen wireless network capabilities offer the potential for revolutionary applications extending far beyond smartphones and other mobile devices. With 5G enabling new limits for wireless speed, storage and connectivity, this will enable a range of new applications and use cases for industry and consumers alike. From the evolution of the IoT to revolutionary advances in how AI is used in the real world, many of tomorrow’s most exciting technological advances will depend on 5G connectivity.

At this session, we invite speakers from Singapore and the Nordics to share more about the new applications and opportunities that 5G could bring. Our speakers will cover how the success of 5G in the network security industry will be driven by partnerships of the ecosystem and discuss new opportunities and applications which can benefit from the bandwidth and latency gains enabled by 5G.

Speaker's Profile:
Tricia Sim, Business Development Manager of Future Business APAC, Axis
Tricia Sim is the business development manager of Future Business for Axis in APAC. In this role, she is responsible for identifying and developing areas of growth for Axis in Cloud and IoT offerings, as well as driving key partnerships and projects in the evolving 5G environment. Her focus in 5G is to create new business solutions for enterprises by leveraging IOT and 5G capabilities and this can only be successful through partnerships and collaborations.

Matias Koski, Head of Global Sales, Immersal
Matias Koski is heading global sales at Immersal, part of Hexagon, and accelerating AR and Metaverse transformation across the world. The transformation is enabled by using Immersal’s high technology, combined with other cutting edge technologies like 5G mobile networks, cloud computing and private networks.
Matias has studied Materials Science and Industrial Engineering at the Aalto University, Finland. Before joining Immersal, he worked for Nokia and Microsoft for more than 10 years.

Connie Ang, Senior Director – Innovation and Strategic Partnership & Centre Director of FutureNow Innovation Centre, Singtel
Connie drives innovation and strategic partnerships for Group Enterprise, Singtel. She also helms the role of Centre Director for Singtel FutureNow Innovation Centre, a state-of-art technology centre that showcases Singtel’s inflight and advanced technologies. In this role, she leads her team to curate customer experiences, carry out customer and partner engagement work; playing a key role in the development of the innovation partnership ecosystem in Singtel.

Prior to this role, Connie was driving strategy and planning, and her role involved developing strategies for new growth areas in the various digital and technological spaces for both Singtel Group Enterprise and NCS. She played a key role in supporting the Lines of Business in the execution of both organic and inorganic growth strategies, and drove strategic partnerships and alliances to further business growth.

Before she joined Singtel, she was Head, and Deputy Vice-President, Corporate Planning and Affairs for NTUC Income. In that role, she led a team to drive strategy development, corporate planning, business results reporting and performance management, as well as carry out environment sensing and market research for the organisation.

Connie spent a large part of her career in the public sector, before moving to the private sector. Being a Public Service Commission scholar, she took on diverse leadership roles which involved strategy development, strategic planning and policy formulation in the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Communications and Information and the Ministry of National Development.

Connie graduated with a Bachelor of Arts, Social Sciences from the National University of Singapore, and also holds a post-graduate Masters of Science from the University College London.

Tony Q.S. Quek received the B.E. and M.E. degrees in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Tokyo Institute of Technology, Tokyo, Japan, respectively. At Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Cambridge, MA, he earned the Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Currently, he is the Cheng Tsang Man Chair Professor with Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD). He also serves as the Head of ISTD Pillar, Director for Future Communications R&D Programme, Sector Lead for SUTD AI Program, and the Deputy Director of SUTD-ZJU IDEA. His current research topics include wireless communications and networking, 6G, network intelligence, security, and IoT.

Dr. Quek has been actively involved in organizing and chairing sessions and has served as a TPC member in numerous international conferences. He is currently serving as an Area Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications and an elected member of the IEEE Signal Processing Society SPCOM Technical Committee. He was an Executive Editorial Committee Member of the IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, an Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Communications, and an Editor of the IEEE Wireless Communications Letters. He is a co-author of a few books published by Cambridge University Press.

Dr. Quek received the 2008 Philip Yeo Prize for Outstanding Achievement in Research, the 2012 IEEE William R. Bennett Prize, the 2016 IEEE Signal Processing Society Young Author Best Paper Award, the 2017 CTTC Early Achievement Award, the 2017 IEEE ComSoc AP Outstanding Paper Award, the 2020 IEEE Communications Society Young Author Best Paper Award, the 2020 IEEE Stephen O. Rice Prize, the 2020 Nokia Visiting Professorship, and the 2016-2020 Clarivate Analytics Highly Cited Researcher. He is a Fellow of IEEE.
