Business Leadership for Sustainability Transformation

Join us on a talk on why companies need to reinvent themselves as catalysts for a sustainable future and the leadership required to do so.

About this Event

The global pandemic has created an unprecedented reality that is profoundly impacting our society and economy now and for the foreseeable future. At the same time, a slower, less visible but perhaps even more devastating reality is transpiring with climate change. Never before has it been more crucial to rethink how we conduct business. With industry frontrunners in the Nordics as well as the Pacific Northwest, the event will explore:

  • Why companies need to to reinvent themselves as catalysts for a sustainable future.

  • How to lead an organization on a sustainable transformation journey.

  • How to move from incremental change to exponential impact.

The event will feature two panels: one on sustainable fashion and one on sustainable transport logistics, with invited speakers sharing their leadership experience of driving a sustainable transformation journey.

The event is co-hosted by the Embassy of Sweden (Washington, USA), the Honorary Consulate General of Sweden in San Francisco, UC Berkeley, and the Nordic Innovation House in Silicon Valley.

The workshop

Industry companies are now in a better position than ever before to incorporate data into their daily decision-making activities in a meaningful and productive way, creating a more sustainable future. In this second workshop, in a series of activities within the stronghold Nordic IndTech, Nordic industry companies will be given the opportunity to ideate, learn, network, and create partnerships with technology frontiers from Silicon Valley. You will also be able to listen to two keynote speakers sharing best practices based on their knowledge and experience from transforming companies into data driven industry production companies, the benefits and opportunities, what challenges they overcome, and how.

Background

Important decisions that impact process industry and automation should be based on facts, not guesses, wishes, theories or opinions. Today’s emerging technology helps by enabling both people and the equipment to collect and process the facts they need to achieve better results.

The accelerated deployment of technologies such as low-cost sensors and their connection to the internet in combination with high-speed internet (5G) has created a lot of hype about the future of process industry and manufacturing. The Internet of Things (IoT) and its application of big data and analytics has led to the creation of the next generation industries. This involves using data to reduce costs through new age sales and operations planning, dramatically enhanced productivity, supply chain and distribution optimization, and new types of after-sales services with increased knowledge about the end-users and their needs.

Who are you?

You are probably working on a daily basis with strategy related questions, with an interest in industry data analytics and are open for starting interesting collaborations and/or strategic alliances within this field.

Shomit Ghose, Tech investor and Adjunct Professor in Entrepreneurship at UC Berkeley, and a great friend of Nordic Innovation House Silicon Valley will be joining the BioInnovation Institute and share his perspectives.

The scope of the COVID-19 pandemic has brought a new set of requirements to healthcare practice worldwide. Curve-flattening and non-pharmaceutical intervention have now entered the lexicon and reflect healthcare’s broader need to become more scalable and virtualized. Digital technology innovations will not only help to address COVID-19’s short-term needs, but will also catalyze the development of virtualized solutions for a range of healthcare conditions for our post-COVID future. Innovations in non-contact, digitally-driven healthcare will be among the most impactful and longest-lasting legacies of the COVID-19 crisis.

Idean Design Webinar: Orchestrating Service Experiences with Service Design

Idean Design Webinar

Orchestrating service experiences with service design

Companies are rapidly shifting and responding to changing customer behaviors. So designing consciously – and more humanly – across different touchpoints is more critical than ever.

The hardest part in service delivery, be it the optimization or launch of new services, is their orchestration. In order to stay relevant and valuable to our users, we need to keep up with changing expectations and demands.

In this webinar, we’ll discuss how orchestrating tools and moments is a core competency of delivering valuable service experiences.

Firstly, we are responsible for understanding the needs of our users. Secondly, we are accountable to meet those needs with interactions that enable them to achieve their goals and get on with life.

Orchestrating the tools and moments to support our users requires empathy, collaboration, creativity, and alignment, which results in better experiences and outcomes.

The key takeaways

• What is a "service" & what is service design?

• The orchestration imperative

• The frontstage and backstage of service design

• The value of taking a service design approach to customer experience

FUTURE MOBILITY INITIATIVE: Geofencing and The Potential of Connected Vehicles

This webinar is one of the ways Nordic Innovation House are working with the initiative of future mobility.

Eno Center for Transportation is hosting a webinar on geofencing and the potential of connected vehicles. Read more and sign up through this link: https://www.enotrans.org/event/webinar-geofencing-and-the-potential-of-connected-vehicles/

Webinar description:

Full obedience of traffic rules and regulations and the ability to dynamically change them, depending on the current situation in a city or on a motorway, would enable a completely new toolbox for traffic planners. In Sweden, dynamic environmental zones that are triggered by thresholds in air pollution or digitally-enforced speed regulations outside schools are currently be tested. To a large extent, the technology is already available and the Swedish Transport Administration is working together with the city of Gothenburg and Stockholm to develop the ability to deliver traffic rules and regulations digitally to connected vehicles through a national road database. This webinar will discuss current and future applications of geofencing technology and what capabilities that will be needed from transport authorities in order to make full use of its potential.

Speakers:
Johannes Berg, Senior Adviser for Digitalization of the Transport System, Swedish Transport Administration

Alice Grossman, Ph.D., Senior Policy Analyst, Eno Center for Transportation
